New album is out today, in case you weren't aware. What does everyone think so far? I am getting my copy tonight and am entirely too excited about it.

I finally found a v-slice community!
I've loved his music for years now, and I'm hopefully *crosses fingers* going to see him live tomorrow in Asheville!
What's everyone's favorite song?
My current favorite is Pale Horse. Current Mood: accomplished

JV in boston.
yet another wonderful time spent at a john vanderslice show ( 4 shows for 5 years is good, right?). he gave out copies of a tatu dvd that he signed himself and pretended that they signed and asked him to give out at the show. he's completely insane.
also given to the crowd on this fine evening: a size 36 DD bra, a jean jacket with sunglasses pin, some weird magazine, and assorted crap that the people at the club the night before handed to them, thinking it belonged to the band.

new member and hi
Just joined this comm and wanted to say:
Pixel Revolt makes me cry. At least on the inside... it's so beautiful, haunting, and all of that. I can't get it out of my cd player or my mind during the day. As usual, it took me a couple days to really get into it, but now it's all I'm listening to in the car.
I do love that Johnny V. *sigh* Current Mood: enthralled

Ok, I am DYING to get my hands on Pixel Revolt on vinyl
. I missed out on the Barsuk pre-order due to losing my job...
And so now I am begging you all out there in JV land to SELL ME YOUR COPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll pay you tons and tons of money (ok, not really), but I am willing to pay a pretty penny for this record.

Is any one else going to the Amoeba show in LA tonight?
More importantly, is anyone going bowling with JV afterwards?

This community's been sleeping a while, and I thought the advent of a new CD would be a good time to wake it up for a little bit.
What are everyone's thoughts on the new CD? I just got it Friday and was away much of the weekend so I haven't listened to it as much as I would have liked, but it's certainly a bit of a departure. I really like it though, and right off the bat, "Dead Slate Pacific" really struck me - it's just really gorgeous. We all knew JV had a great voice, but it really, really stands out on this CD. Good stuff.

My name is Alina and I'm rather pleasant and very kind and try to be a good person. Here's the story: I am interning at KRS over the summer, and need a place to live in Olympia from the last week of June to the last week of August. I'll be there four days a week. Does anybody have some space for me? I'm pretty small.
If you could help me out, shoot me an email at travisdismembersme AT gmail DOT com
Sorry if this is spam.

rather new here...but i saw jv back in november in phoenix. really small venue and crowd. really nice guy, he hung out for a while afterwards and personally thanked me for buying a button, heh. anyway, he's fantastic live. he really infuses every song with a lot of energy. most of my friends don't know who he is, but that's okay :)

JV at Kilby Court, Salt Lake City 27th September 2004
John put on a great show as always, new haircut in tow. Joshua Zarbo (of Spoon) played bass, Dave Douglas on drums and vibes, and the venerable Scott Solter on keys and guitar. One of the most interesting things about a Vanderslice show is that his rotating cast of a band for each tour inevitably has a newly-imagined way of arranging old familiar favorites. JV literally has about 25 different ways to play every song. This time around, he opened up solo with acoustic guitar on the new "Radiant With Terror." Pics, some good, some slightly less than good, are provided for your enjoyment...

If you're interested, please join the community I just made. It's basically for people who are cool and like gay kids and aren't homophobic and stuff. fagsarelove
Because I think it's an imporant issue being that I am gay and I experience a lot of negative feelings when I go out (especially with my boyfriend). That's basically my reason for making the community.
Hope some of you are interested.

Hi there. I'm madkitty
and (sing along if you know the words!) "I love John Vanderslice."
Okay that's over with. Loved his work since a friend introduced me to MK Ultra, have most of the recordings, once I got to work the merch table at a show in Norman, OK with JV and Mountain Goats....
So, are any of you in Oklahoma? Um, will you be my friend? Huh? Huh? I'm looking forward to the show in October, yay. But now I'm embarrassed.... (sniffle) Current Mood: embarrassed
